How Kyndryl is bridging the divide between tech tools and outcomes

IT infrastructure services company Kyndryl Holdings Inc. spun out of IBM’s infrastructure services business in 2021. Since then, the company has charted a path of its own and differentiated itself in the market.

The company’s direction has become crystal clear, according to said Ramkumar Pandurangan (pictured), associate partner and practice lead of U.S. cloud advisory and consulting at Kyndryl.

“Kyndryl’s primary philosophy is how we can help enable our clients to get the business capabilities using technology,” Pandurangan said. “People don’t buy the clouds; they buy outcomes. And with this explosive growth in the market and explosive technology growth, it’s challenging to find the right partner to deliver.”

Pandurangan spoke with theCUBE industry analyst Dave Nicholson at the AWS Summit New York event, during an exclusive broadcast on theCUBE, SiliconANGLE Media’s livestreaming studio. They discussed Kyndryl’s  partnership strategies, including its AWS Premier Tier Services Partner status, and client success stories. (* Disclosure below.)

Kyndryl helps orgs ease the technological explosion

Today, Kyndryl has a client base consisting of almost half the Fortune 500 and 75 of the Fortune 100 list, according to Pandurangan. This is in addition to boasting over 90,000 in personnel across 100 countries worldwide.

While Amazon Web Services Inc. provides the tooling necessary for companies to embark on and successfully complete their digital transformations, solutions providers like Kyndryl take those tools and package them into deliverable outcomes for clients.

“Everybody realized that not doing the business in a traditional way is going to get to where they want to go. So, traditionally, people are cutting costs, trying to trim down, and trying to see how they can do incremental modernization instead,” Pandurangan explained.

One of the major challenges companies are facing in their digital transformation, and where Kyndryl is seeing a lot of client success, is facing the current technological explosion.

“We are very well suited because we already understand their environment, and while they are transforming into the cloud space, we are also able to bridge the gap by managing their existing and go-to-cloud strategies,” Pandurangan said.
