Munters drives digital transformation to reach next level of user engagement
Munters Group is a global leader in energy-efficient air treatment and climate control solutions in industries where temperature control and humidity are essential, including food, pharmaceuticals and data centers.
As an essential cornerstone for many important industries that rely on strict temperature control, Munters turned to enterprise software company IFS AB when it needed to accelerate its digital transformation process.
“Customers want remote management, they want connected devices, but that alone will not bring you servitization,” said Roel Rentmeesters (pictured, right), vice president of digital transformation at Munters. “You need to have your strong foundation in the back with a good process, a good system that can support that process, and that’s where IFS came in for us.”
Rentmeesters and Sarah Nicastro (pictured, left), spoke with theCUBE industry analyst Lisa Martin at IFS Unleashed, during an exclusive broadcast on theCUBE, SiliconANGLE Media’s livestreaming studio. They discussed how IFS assisted with Munter’s digital transformation, how customer engagement drives its innovation, and how IFS is empowering Munter’s mission. (* Disclosure below.)
Embracing outcomes as a service
User engagement is important in many businesses, especially with COVID pivoting several businesses toward remote services. Servitization, where companies sell outcomes as a service instead of the product itself, was a big motivator for Munters to seek out help from IFS.
“There are elements of innovation and change that are happening across industries that our customers care a lot about,” Nicastro said. “What I’m working on at the moment is introducing another layer of customer engagement where we’re also fostering those cross-industry more innovation-centered conversations so that we can not only better understand what our customers are focused on there, but also allow them to connect and learn from one another.”
With IFS helping Munters engage more with its clients, the company is able to learn more from its users, including how they navigate the markets and find their technicians. Connecting with its users also allows Munters to discover shared goals between the two, strengthening relationships and future innovations.
“Customers are talking a lot more about outside in innovation — an inside-out model does not work today,” Nicastro said. “The more you have those discussions, the more you can notice what those common challenges or opportunities are so that when you are putting effort into our evolution and modernization, we can make sure that’s geared toward the impact our customers need.”
