IFS CEO weighs in on ERP innovation and field service management leadership

The pandemic disrupted most in-person activities. But while some companies sank, others swam by harnessing the opportunities within a new system of order.

One of those was enterprise software solution provider IFS AB, which achieved its goal to become a leader in the field service management industry.

“We’d always been a contender in the ERP space, and with some asset management capability,” said Darren Roos (pictured), chief executive officer of IFS. “But, the focus was really on establishing ourselves as a leader in the field service management space. And, today, we are the undisputed leader in field service management both from an analyst and customer recognition perspective.”

Roos spoke with theCUBE industry analyst Lisa Martin at IFS Unleashed, during an exclusive broadcast on theCUBE, SiliconANGLE Media’s livestreaming studio. They discussed the company’s recent efforts to differentiate itself in service delivery through its enterprise resource planning and asset management solutions. (* Disclosure below.)

Enabling transcendent experiences in its chosen niche

By helping companies engage customers, optimize assets and empower employees, IFS works to “create amazing moments of service,” according to Roos. And for its efforts, the company was listed as #1 in Gartner’s recent EAM market share analysis — ahead of the likes of Oracle and IBM.

The company also sits in the top three ERP vendors list, and does so through its primary focus of driving capabilities within in-service and asset-centric industries, including utilities, aerospace and defense, Roos added.

“And in that space, we have a very compelling proposition. We can help customers go live faster. We can de-risk those implementations because we have more depth of functionality that’s suited specifically to their needs and that makes it compelling,” he said.

The technologies that drive IFS solutions are built with these specific, tailor-made industry use cases in mind, which is a major differentiator for the company within its competitive market, Roos explained.

“You’ll see all of the solar arrays and the wind farms and all the different things where we’re demoing … the capability that we have is very industry-focused,” he stated.
