E.Design transforms to a digital-first insurance company
The global trend toward digital transformation doesn’t only improve supply chains and corporate bottom lines. It can also save lives and livelihoods.
In recognizing this fact, E.design Insurance Co. Ltd. has tapped into cloud technologies to create “&e” (Andy), an automobile insurance system.
“E.design, in collaboration with Accenture, sought to redefine the company’s mission, vision and values by embracing the customer experience in a new way,” said Shigeo Kuwabara (pictured, left), president and chief executive officer of E.design. “While a customer’s traditional view of automobile insurance is ‘just in case,’ Accenture and E.design form the view that what customers really want is accident prevention.”
Kuwabara and Akiko Horie (pictured, right), senior managing director at Accenture Japan Ltd., spoke with theCUBE industry analyst John Furrier at the recent AWS Executive Summit, during an exclusive broadcast on theCUBE, SiliconANGLE Media’s livestreaming studio. They discussed the outlook for the Accenture and E.design co-engineered products in the driver safety and accident coverage market. (* Disclosure below.)
A new view of vehicle insurance
“&e” isn’t the only product both companies have worked to create. There’s also “Safe Driving Together,” an initiative that leverages vast amounts of driving data to prevent accidents. In essence, E.design is tackling automobile insurance pain points before and after the fact of an accident, according to Horie.
“This is a new innovation for many insurance clients, especially the traditional policyholder and the new generation,” Horie explained. “So it gives the customers a new experience and makes a big change to the customer experience. E.design is leading this experience in the world.”
In terms of features, &e is the “most advanced full-cloud insurance system in the world,” according to Kuwabara. It combines digital convenience and the concept of creating driver safety, as well as reducing the risk and event of an accident, through data.
“Accenture supported us in a wide range of areas, including business, design and IT,” Horie said. “In addition, Accenture’s studies in cutting-edge digital technologies, such as AI and data analysis, were necessary to become a digital-first insurance company.”
