AI’s tectonic shift: A blueprint for AI integration in the modern enterprise
As artificial intelligence reshapes every industry from enterprise technology to film and media, McKnight Consulting Group looks to prepare companies for its arrival.
“AI’s here to stay, it’s a keeper,” said William McKnight (pictured), president of McKnight Consulting Group, who emphasizes the inevitable impact of AI on company infrastructure. “You’ve got to get in front of it.”
McKnight spoke with theCUBE industry analysts Rebecca Knight and Rob Strechay at Possible 2023, during an exclusive broadcast on theCUBE, SiliconANGLE Media’s livestreaming studio. They discussed the future of AI in business and industry and the strategies companies are using to implement it. (* Disclosure below.)
Preparing data infrastructure for AI
The importance of data architecture and data governance for companies attempting to incorporate AI into their systems is critical, according to McKnight.
“That means multiple platforms, no one size fits all,” he said. “Data warehouses, data lakes, streaming real time data … those are some of the staples that every organization needs.”
Without clean data, AI algorithms are less likely to produce the results that companies are looking for. Many of the concerns about AI center around the looming threat of job loss. Companies need to learn about AI and restructure their management accordingly, before its advances overwhelm them, McKnight.
“If we don’t start getting in front of that, it’s going to hit us like a ton of bricks in the future,” he said.
When asked about the future of AI, McKnight highlighted how large language model interfaces can give employees easier access to company data. One of the most crucial industries that could benefit from these LLMs is healthcare, which involves handling a lot of data from patients.
Most importantly, McKnight wants people to know that AI-fueled advancements are imminent and to expect a seismic shift in the industry.
“[Companies] need to be impressing upon everybody that this is a big change,” he said. “Get ready for it.”
