Rezonate launches new identity security platform for human and nonhuman identities
Cloud identity and access startup Rezonate Inc. today announced the launch of a new platform for identity-centric security that offers unified coverage for both human and nonhuman identities.
The new platform takes a unified approach to managing identities to ensure end-to-end visibility with risk-driven actionability across the identity fabric of an organization. It provides a risk-driven and context-aware view of machine and human identities across the entire cloud and software-as-a-service identity fabric.
The service seeks to address issues around nonhuman or machine identities, called NHIs for short, across digital access credentials. They play a crucial role in securing company infrastructures while automating tasks and increasing business efficiencies. Rezonate argues that these identities create a massive attack surface within organizations and, if not monitored, open the door to attacks that can rapidly spread throughout systems.
Rezonate’s solution combines visibility, monitoring, posture, threat detection and response and compliance reporting for nonhuman and human identities. The platform provides governance, administration and lifecycle management combined with discovery, inventory and visibility into NHIs and associated users simultaneously on the same platform.
The company claims that its new platform provides the most complete risk-driven, contextual insights to enable informed, proactive or even real-time decisions to be made. The goal is to make security, identity and DevOps teams better equipped to work together and prevent modern threats like supply chain attacks.
“In modern threat tactics, attackers are targeting both machines and humans — the NHI creators and users — as part of the same attack,” said co-founder and Chief Executive Roy Akerman. “Securing NHIs and human identities separately increases friction, creates blindspots and slows down the defenders.”
The new platform offers protection for NHIs by providing simple yet complete visibility into NHIs across the entire attack path, including their authorization and authentication graphs, security controls, access conditions and behavioral profiles. A detailed, real-time view provides critical information about each NHI, such as its permissions, entitlements and the services it can access, which facilitates better audit performance and accountability.
Rezonate’s new platform enhances NHI hygiene and security posture management by allowing security, identity and DevOps teams to make informed decisions based on the risks and context associated with NHIs. The platform ensures NHIs have only the necessary permissions to prevent overprivileged access that attackers could exploit, thereby facilitating proactive risk mitigation.
The platform also continuously monitors NHIs to detect abnormal behaviors and potential security breaches, including those involving NHI owners. Automated rules and alerts offer insights into NHI activities, enabling quick identification and mitigation of issues before they escalate into full-blown security breaches.
Rezonate is a venture capital-backed startup that has raised a single round of $8.7 million in December 2022. Investors in the company include State of Mind Ventures LP, Flybridge Capital Partners LLC, toDay Ventures and Merlin Ventures LLC.
